Project Description

The project deals with questions concerning medical services for residents of nursing homes, their quality of life and the improvement of both.

The team is going to evaluate medical and psychosocial data of about 600 patients at five locations in a southern federal state of Germany. Further down the line several interventions will start, which address both: residents and staff as well as the structure and processes of the nursing homes.

The data will be compared with a control group consisting of 450 residents of nursing homes.

Essential components of the interventions concern the improvement of the interface between hospitals and nursing homes as well as the implementation of networks of general practitioners and medical specialists. The project aims at the improvement of communication and cooperation between facility, general practitioners and medical specialists as well as the interface between hospitals and nursing homes.

The study consists of two sub-projects:

  • EVI-P Evaluation of Health Situation, Quality of Life and Medical Services in Nursing Homes
  • IVI-P Implementation of Interventions to Improve Medical Services in Nursing Homes
